Bienvenidos a Tapas Rias- A Taste of Spain! Our goal is to take you to Spain for an evening or an afternoon. Tapas, the little dishes of Spain, are never ending feast of delectable servings. Tapas can be first course, before an entree or mixed and matched for a meal. Tapas can be traced back to the Andalucia region of Spain where a small piece of bread was put over a glass of wine to keep out the dust and flies. The simple idea soon evolved into a delicious array of little dishes. Spaniards meeting in tapas bars throughout the day is a favorite delicioso pastime of Spain. Rias Baixas is a region on the west coastline of Galicia, Spain famous for its white wines made with the Albarino grape variety. Paella originated in fields outside of Valencia, and eventually became the National Dish of Spain. They would start with rice and saffron add what they could find (snails, seafood and vegetables) to the traditional flat-bottom paella pan, simmering everything over open fire to perfection. Today it is cooked frequently in many kitchens in Spain. Sangria is typically served in Spain at informal social gatherings, restaurants and bars.
